☼ Environment - Our School 
Located in a rural village setting, Winkfield Montessori at Popels Hall provides a traditional and warm environment for your child’s first steps in education. 
 
Founded in 1989 by Mr William Wilkie and daughter Claire, the school prides itself on its friendly family run atmosphere. Today over 20 years on, our head Directress Mrs Claire Wilkie-Elliott is still as welcoming and enthusiastic as the day the school opened. 
 
Placing your child into a school for the first time can be a daunting experience. This may be the first time your child has spent a significant amount of time outside the care of family. Our staff have the experience and compassion to help children and parents alike settle in to the new routine and environment as seamlessly as possible. Being parents themselves helps our staff anticipate the needs of both children and parents. 
Once you take your first steps through our door, you will find a welcoming, homely atmosphere awaits. There is a wonderful gentle energy as many little explorers go about their so very important activities. 
 
Anyone who has not seen a properly equipped Montessori classroom can form an adequate conception of the amount of loving care, intellectual labour and inventive genius which has been called into the construction of the specially prepared environment. 
 
Everything in that environment has been so constructed as to correspond with the statue physical, mental and social well-being of the child. 
 
The classroom is built on a Lilliputian scale, with chairs and tables built to children's size enabling them to feel comfortable whilst learning.
