☼ School Curriculum
Whilst practicing the Montessori Method, we also follow the National Curriculum for Early Years Education, commonly known as the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Our full curriculum is available to view in our Prospectus which can be sent to you upon request. A basic outline of the core subjects covered within the Prospectus is listed below:
Early Years Foundation Stage is divided into six key areas and our Montessori curriculum is designed to cover each of the criteria within each area of the following:

☼ Personal, social and emotional development
☼ Communication, language and literacy
☼ Mathematical development
☼ Physical development
☼ Creative development
☼ Knowledge and understanding of the World

Practical Life Skills - Practical life begins as soon as the child enters the classroom. Equipment is designed to develop your child’s sense of independence and self-reliance. At the very beginning children are encouraged to develop their manual dexterity and motor skills. Thus children develop a sense of pride, enabling them to become independent and display an "I can do it for myself" quality.

Writing - Montessori recognises that reading and writing skills can develop at different rates. Once your child has developed the necessary dexterity for pencil skills, they begin to work on printing. They are provided with their own workbook in which they are encouraged to take care of its presentation and work content.

Reading - All the children are introduced to stories and books that are carefully chosen to be stimulating. Once your child is ready, the Montessori Method embraces their desire to learn, developing their command of language and reading skills. Reading is taught using the phonetic method. Sandpaper letters provide a sensory tactile experience in letter formation. Progression to forming and reading of small three, four and five letter words follows.

Other Subjects - These include Geography, Science and Geometry – all these topics are introduced to your child to develop a greater understanding of the World they live in. Our classroom is filled with stimulating colourful puzzles of maps, animals, shapes, and flags of the world encouraging exploration.
Sensory Training - This area of Montessori embraces the five senses, Sight, Sound, Touch, Taste and Smell. Apparatus such as sound boxes, The Pink Tower, The Colour tablets and Texture boards are used to develop the afore mentioned senses. Sensorial training lays the foundation for logic, reasoning and problem solving, making the progression to mathematics a natural transition.

Mathematics - You child is introduced to specific Montessori Maths equipment in a step by step process. This equipment provides a basic knowledge in number recognition and counting. Once competent this stage your child would then be introduced to pencil and paper problems. Examples of tasks covered -understanding quantity recognition of numbers 1 – 20 and beyond, linear counting, skip counting, pattern following, sequencing and telling the time.
